Morcott help please!
« on: Friday 08 November 13 22:42 GMT (UK) »
Im wondering if anyone has access to Morcott registers? The only file I have are BT's with quite a few gaps and the earliest year being 1701.

I have an Edward Rowell & Ann Wilson marriage on 13 Nov 1749. I have a suspicion that the Rowells are not from Morcott, so am trying to find a possible baptism for Edward.

Can anyone help me on this please? Thank you.

Hi Sandy!

Nice to hear from you again. Thank you for that. Just to keep you updated, I've moved to Rothwell now! I'm dangerously close to the RO now! Just had to have a visit today!

David.

Hi again David.

Then you will have to get used to calling it Rowell and go to the all day drinking
fair in the Summer. LOL.

Kettering is known as Ketring and many more funny ways of saying our towns
and villages like Towcester is Toaster, Cogenhoe is Cookno. etc

Good to see you in our County.

The only Edward Rowell baptism I can find in Rutland from the transcripts is in 1744 in Ridlington.  There are quite a lot of Rowel(l)s in that area bordering Northants so the baptism Sandy found could be relevant.  CD2 and CD3 of the Rutland parish register transcripts from LRFHS have quite a lot of Rowells so it may be worth you obtaining copies of them and comparing with Rowells in Northants to see if any connections can be made.  There is the odd entry on CD1 too but most appear on CD2 and CD3, for baptisms anyway.  Details of the CDs are here - http://www.lrfhs.org.uk/onlinecdsales.htm.

And Sandy, I've already been told off by a couple of stern pensioners for pronouncing Pytchley as "Pitch-lee".  ;D How was I to know it was "Pie-tch-lee".  ???
