1861 Census Woolwich
« on: Friday 17 June 05 14:41 BST (UK) »
I am looking for Eliza Brown, born cir 1837 in Woolwich.  Her father was James Brown, listed as a tailor on her marriage certificate - not shown as deceased.  Eliza was listed in 1881 as a midwife.  I've tried but not successfully located her yet prior to her marriage in 1872 when she lived in Plumstead.

Thanks

Nell

Hi Nell

I have come back to this several times and still can't place her in 1871/1861?  Would the witnesses help to track her or any address perhaps?

You and me both.  :(

I should have thought of the witnesses myself  :-[ - they were William and Catherine McCubry.  And I haven't a clue who they were.

Thanks for those.

I'm not sure it helps any.  At least he was consistent and stayed in Plumstead for a while.  Storekeeper, hmm - I wonder if the business was near Eliza's father or her husband to be (he was a draper by this time.)  I'll keep it all in mind next time I decide to have a look for her.
