hello Tony, thanks for the reply. i have been searching Reffell people for about 15 years now, maybe more for i started getting interested in 1966. i have traced my branch back to 1789 in Dorking when my greatgreatgrandfather Joseph was born to Joseph and Sarah. Possibly with the exception of my greatgrandfather Edwin the name Joseph appears in every generation down to my 1905 Uncle "Ted" who was named Edwin (after his grandfather), Herbert (after his father) Joseph (after his greatgrandfather). there was another Joseph baptized and died in 1789 in Albury, son of William (born in Dorking) and Hannah nee SMITH, who married in Shere and were "of this parish". in 1786 another Joseph son of John and Anne nee BURCHATT was christened in Shere and that branch too has a few descendents named Joseph. I cannot find links between my branch and the other two.Anyway if you want i can give you what information i have on the various branches and hopefully find a common ancestor.

hello again Tony G, guess what. my greatgrandfather Edwin born in Slough near Horton then Bucks near Heathrow(son of Joseph 1789 in Dorking and Elizabeth nee Fowler) had a brother called Albert William born in Horton who had a son called Percy Albert born in Hyde Kent who had a daughter called Marjory Elaine, a son called Stanley Albert and a daughter called Vera Irene M born in Clapham who married a Lennart A G...and you know the rest. you belong to the Bucks farmer Reffell branch like me. this branch continues in Perth Western Australia only so far for as far as I know my photographer nephew in London and his wife Nathalie have no children yet. if you like you can email me edwin dot reffell at gmail dot com and i can put you in touch with my brothers and sister in the UK and Australia and another related family in Australia, my relatives in New Zealand and the lady in the UK who started my interest in family searching. i can let you know what my grandmother Amelia Ellen born in 1877 told me about herself and what my father told me about ,my grandfather.

Thanks
Tony

yes. i did not write the surname because you did not write it. how far back have you got with your father's family? do you want me to help you find your father's ancestors? do you want me to give you what i have got for your mother's family? by the way i have done a dna test to see where our branch came from. there is no evidence of French or Huguenot background that i can see just as i rhought but the route to and from the Fertile Crescent really surprised me.
