Birth/Baptism of Joseph John Bucknall around 1814 in Staffordshire
« on: Thursday 21 November 13 12:16 GMT (UK) »
I am researching a Bucknall family and in particular Joseph John Bucknall who I believe married Anne Theresa Massey and produced 5 sons - Augustine (1842), Joseph John Massey (1845), Edmund (1847), Wilfred William (1850) & Robert Cuthbert (1852), all born in Chorlton-cum-Medlock, Lancashire.  Joseph (aged 57) & Anne (aged 55) Bucknall appear on the 1871 census living in Liverpool where Joseph was a 'Marine Master Broker'.  Both are stated as born in Staffordshire.  In 1881 & 1891 they are living in the Isle of Man and whilst Joseph was born in England , his wife Ann was born in Wales.  Can anybody help me find the birth/baptism of Joseph John Bucknall in Staffordshire?  Also, I would like to verify the marriage of Joseph John Bucknall & Anne Theresa Massey - I have the birth certificate of their eldest son Augustine (1842) which gives his mother's name.

Nor could I but a portion of the Manchester 1851 was water damaged so if they were in one of the areas affected that could account for it.

However - that doesn't explain why I can't find them in 1861 either ???

I have now obtained a copy of the marriage cert for Joseph John Bucknall and Ann Teresa Massey - married on 14 July 1840 in the Catholic Chapel, St. Gregorys, Stoke 0n Trent.  Joseph's father was a Robert Bucknall, a Potter.  One of the witnesses was a Mary Stevenson Bucknall - maybe mother or sister?  Unable to find Robert Bucknall on the 1841 census.  Still trying to verify the birth/baptism of Joseph John Bucknall around 1814-1816.

No, I don't think so - thar Robert's occupation was a 'Writing Clerk' (they also appear on the 1851 census) whereas my Robert was a 'Potter' as stated on the marriage cert of Joseph John Bucknall.  Thanks for looking.
