I think, from reading this thread, that I could be a descendant and a relalive.
The Family records that I have start with John Sinclair and Ann MacKay who married in Wick in 1825. I think they had three children - Janet born 1826, Isabella and Alexandrina.

The Sutherland name came in a bit later around 1870. I will find out exact names and dates but this looks promising. Wemyss is an old family name that has come down the line. Supposedly it comes from the Earl of Sutherland, my cousin had the second name Wemyss but my mother wouldn't let my father add it to my name.

John and Ann Sinclair had another daughter called Anne Sinclair (Ann or Anne) who married David Sutherland in Wick on 15/01/49. David was a gardener/coachman from Thumster. They had 4 children all born in Wick - David (b 7/2/1849, a month after marriage), Catherine (1851), Elizabeth Sutherland Weymss (1852) and James (1854). David married Margaret Mitchell of Dundee in Dunedin NZ on 30 May 1882.
I realise that is going down a different branch than the Hendersons but it is interesting for the record.
