Yes, I had Job & Jane in Radstock and Edward & Ruth in Radstock. Can't fit Sarah into either of these.
If Sarah's parents were dead, then who had Minnie and Peveril. They all just seem to vanish. Peveril seemed to abandon each family as the wife died and started again.
It all seems a bit dodgy as he was only 35 years old when he married the 4th. wife!

Just wondering if Job, Edward, Isaac and there was a Sidney (in Radstock as a lodger with no family) were all brothers. Perhaps someone could find them on the 1851 or 1841 if its not too much trouble.

Hi,

If you are hunting for the parents of Sarah Rossiter I may be able to offer up some possibilities:-

I have a marriage in Evercreech in 1858 between Isaac Rossiter & Janes Coles on  July 29th 1858.

I have a Sarah born about 1856 to Charles Rossiter and Sarah Harris in Halstock, Devon.

Another vague possibility is that she could be the daughter of Isaac Rossiter and Caroline Shepherd. Unfortunately, I only have their children upto 1851 but Sarah was a popular name amongst the Rossiters.

If you have any other information about Sarah please post it as it might make her easier to identify.

Hope this helps.

best wishes

Hi there,
How nice of you to reply.
The only family so far that I can fit Sarah into is Isaac & Jane. But no proof. Rossiter seems to be quite a common name in the west country. Did not have the marriage of Isaac, so thank you.
The only details that I have for her are from the 1881 census. She is age 24 born Bath, Somerset. She was living in London at the time. I then have a birth cert. for their son Peveril Frost b. in Radstock in Dec 1881. I thought then that they must have come back to live near her family. Her husband also Peveril Frost had remarried by 1885 in Derby, his native county. He is a widower on that marriage cert. so I presumed Sarah died. Found no record of it. Also I do not know what happened to Minnie and Peveril, their children.
There is also a Minnie Frost m. 1901 to an Edwin Rossiter at Frome but I don't know if she could be mine. I cannot afford cert. for all the possibilities, so all help very much appreciated.

Regards,
Inchworm  :)

Hi Inchworm,

Thanks for your posting and the information.

Yes, Rossiter is a very popular name in the West Country and there are a number of Rossiter web-sites to prove it.

My Mum was a Rossiter and I have tracked her ancestry back to Somerset. I have a lot of information about the Rossiters but this line is new to me, so I will be investigating it with interest.

There are a number of Edwins in Frome but it is only a matter of time before we find the right one.

Best wishes

Thanks for the help and the great interest. One of the most difficult things is that Sarah Rossiter and Peveril Frost were never atually married. She just called herself Frost. On baby Peverils birth cert. it says Sarah Frost nee Rossiter. She was Peverils third "wife". The previous two died, each leaving a daughter which Peveril gave to their respective Grandparents. Then he appears on the 1881 census with wife no. 3, but I have never found a marriage for them. By 1885 he is on wife no. 4.
But what happened to Sarah, dau. Minnie and baby Peveril?
