Sorry Tara for not answering sooner was just a bit excited at all the great finds thanks for finding Beatrice,i have not tried to follow up on any Foster children as i'm a bit lost after 1911 but i doubt if there was any more after John due to her age.
Regards Dathai.

No Probs

This might be just coincidental but in 1901 a Thomas Frederick Godsell aged 35 died in Kildare and was in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He is buried in the Curragh. His will is on the national archives and his widow and children are on the census. Sorry I'm on an old phone that won't let me attach links.

Just wondering given similar age, occupation and county of death might they be related ?

Tara

If you do the Kildare Observer free search on Freemans Journal you will find an article his death in printed 3rd  Sept 1901
http://archive.irishnewsarchive.com/Olive/APA/KCL.Edu/
(thanks to Sinann who originally posted the link on the Kildare board)

I though John Godsil should have appeared in the 1901 census (date was 31 March 1901) and that Mary shouldn't have been listed as a widow until I realised there's a mix up with the day & month and John died just before the census was taken- the obituary does say that he died 27 February so the issue of the paper was probably 9 March.
I am, however, struggling to find a death registration so that we'll have an idea of his age/when he was born.

Wonder if this is the cemetery (based on his residence)- if not there are lots of others listed on the site-

Considering the family circumstances there might not be a gravestone for John.

I don't but I just sent an e mail to the Parish Office, fingers crossed.
If no go there I'll see if my local heritage people have any contact address for them.
