Adam LAWSON of Innerleithen died 1832
« on: Tuesday 03 December 13 16:52 GMT (UK) »
I have hit a brick wall with my 4 x Great Grandfather Adam lawson. As far as I can establish he died and was buried in Innerleithen in 1832. He was married to Ann/Anne Muir and was a shepherd. The majority of his children were born in Manor, Peebles and there seems to have been another Lawson, William, living in Manor about the same time (1774-1800) and bearing children - a brother perhaps.

Any help with Adam or Ann would be appreciated.

Iain

Had a look at pre 1855 list of monumental inscriptions but cannot see anything for Lawson or MUIR at either Innerleithen or Manor.  Sorry :(

Hi Brina,
I'm hoping that you have a list of M.I's in Peeblesshire. Do you have anything for Stoddart around Stobo? Thanks in anticipation :)    Maza

Two entries for Wm Brown.  First one says By Wm Brown wright Stobo to great-gaff Wm B, and gfa Patk B who died March1689 (57), and fa Alex B d 17??, and mo (Janet Sha...ie) d 1736. (Date on back of stone 1744).

Second one says Wm Brown late tenant Easter Dalwick d there 7.4.1876 89, w Elizabeth Stewart d there 5.4.1878 88;  Adam B d Drochil Castle 23.7.1898 69, w Elizabeth Nichol d there 9.12.1895 63, s Wm d 20.10.1870 10 when fa tenant Easter Dalwick, s and solicitor Peebles d Aliwal N Cape Colony 3.2.1899 36, s Thos Fleming d Welbedacht Lady Grey 4.2.1899 24 bd Aliwal;  John B d Drochil 8.5.1910 90

This one is a bit of a muddle but I have copied it exactly from the book.

Hope this helps.

Brina :)
