Johannes Hauser & Shipping
« on: Thursday 05 December 13 05:09 GMT (UK) »
Johannes Hauser, having difficulty in pinning down his arrival into Australia!
His three brothers, Jacob, Phillip and Conrad are all accounted for
all three appearing abt 1856 about eight years before Johannes probably arrived.
Johannes (john) being the youngest, didn't arrive ? from Europe 1863.
According to his Application for letters of Naturalization, he arrived in the Colony of Victoria
by the ship "Alexandra" from the Port of Liverpool. His application was dated 18th May, 1887
when he was age 35. But I have checked arrivals for "Alexandra" in Adelaide, Portland, Geelong and Port Phillip and the only "Alexandra" was a coastal ship that sailed between Brisbane/Sydney/Port Phillip and Adelaide. So is anyone able to sort his actual arrival into Australia for me?

Many thanks

Perhaps arrival of the ship the Princess Alexandra from the port of Liverpool in Nov 1863 may be of interest  :)

Cheers,  JM

There was a stowaway “William Williams” ::). If your Johannes Hauser was the stowaway using an alias, it may explain the difficulty in pinning down his arrival into Australia. http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/1863/11/scan.asp?filename=049prid.gif

cheers :)

The Princess Alexandra 1863 would there be a passenger list available?
