Hi Monica,
None of the children are ever registered as far as I know - and I've looked.  Perhaps Robina in London but none of the others. I have never been able to find a marriage contract for them.
Elizabeth - middle name WALLACE this is Charlotte Easton's mother's maiden name. (I have MCerts for Charlotte's parents and her father's second marriage).
Robina - think she's sorted - that Pearce name is bugging me though as it does not tie in.
Jane Louise - fine got her on the 1911 census - no middle names to help.
Charlotte  - as you noted.
James - awol.
No other children born as far as I know - they seemed rather adverse to paper work!
I haven't seen the Elizabeth of Logie Pert on the Census - I'd be delighted if she was his mother!
Looking forward to getting back to work on the Jollys after this!
Cheers
Jen

:o ::) Having another go for James... ;D

Just found this entry...do you think he went straight back to NY?!

James Christy, 32, tailor, Scottish...on the 'Yorkshire' arriving at NY on 18 Sep 1855...travelling alone...can't see any trace in the US after  :-\

I've found a James Christey, married, aged 47, born in Scotland, blind & a pauper living with a family in the 1871 census for Charlotte, New Brunswick. The head of the household is a Mary Bryant, a widow, & Scottish. From previous censuses I note that her husband was Eleazer Bryant, a native American. Could this be who you're looking for?
He's down as James Christie, in the 1891 census, a lodger & pauper, at the same address. Not there in 1901 though.

Thanks Flst - I'll see if I can find a link from the US to Canada. There are so many people lodging with others at that time. Both Scotland and Ireland seem to be emptying their lands - it''s all so sad.
Found a James Christie in New York on the 1870 census - would so like to think it's him cause he 'works on safes'!
But it can't be as he's got a 20 year old son (born in NY) along with the rest of the family.   There is a James Christie in New York, right age, born in Scotland working in a flax mill - more likely - but feel like I'm chasing ghosts that side of the pond...there just so many James Christies from Scotland in the USA/Canada at that time. I'm going to update all my records on this little weasel and see if anything stands out.  I'm still waiting for an rescan on his 1851 Scottish census - SP say that year was done on blue paper and they can't rescan because of age but will try and enhance.  I think I know what it says but I'd really like a clearer image.
Monica - I've checked 1941 Freecen I can't find an Elizabeth Christie 'Dressmaker' in Logie pert - can you give me a steer here please.
Thanks everyone
Jen

Likely seamstress as she shows as a dress maker in 1851?

1851: Elizabeth Christie, 55, dress maker b. Logie Pert living in Marykirk, Kincardineshire. Shows alone/head of household

1861: Still living alone in Marykirk, aged 64 and showing as formerly domestic servant.

Can't easily see her further after 1861.

I know I said I'd sort the papers and then review but....as I was printing out certs at SP  I thought might as well have Jane Louise /Laurie/ V t or N' death cert...turns out it Jane Laura and it's a V for - wait for it - Valentine! Jane died in 1937 - age 80. Well that's only taken me three years.....
This time I'm going to sort things out - no deviations..Well maybe have a deeks at Elizabeth's death cert? You never know maybe her mother was called Valentine!
