Birth/Baptism of Robert Bucknall in Gateshead around 1789
« on: Sunday 08 December 13 19:43 GMT (UK) »
I am researching a Bucknall family and am stuck on a Robert Bucknall born around 1789 in Gateshead, Durham.  He appears aged 62 with his wife Maria aged 61 on the 1851 census living in Stoke-upon-Trent, Staffs.  His place of birth was given as Gateshead whilst Maria was born in Glasgow, Scotland.  Can anyone help me find Robert's birth/baptism?

James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Hi there

I had a quick look at the Bishops Transcripts for Gateshead St Mary on familysearch.org and couldn't see anything up to 1796  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-12874-53698-88?cc=1309819&wc=MMRX-Y4R:1396720333.  You could try a nice slow trawl through to see if he was baptised much later than his estimated birth year.

He was in Staffordshire in 1841, might this be a possible marriage in Burslem for him to Maria Adams in 1813? http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/SearchResults.pl?RecordType=Marriages&RecordID=3231039
The occupation in 1813 is completely different though to the one shown on both census records.

Just found a previous post which suggests the above marriage is the right one http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=668806.0

Sorry I should have been specific, I looked from 1787 to 1796 for Bucknall / Bucknell and nothing, the Bagnall baptism mentioned is on your post as you say in 1796
