Mary Lewis baptism in Carmarthen
« on: Sunday 15 December 13 19:14 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone able to lookup a baptism for a Mary Lewis born c.1855 Carmarthen Town, perhaps in St Peter? Her father was Daniel Lewis 1826-1903 and he came from Newchurch area. She moved to Ferndale, Glamorgan in about 1871 as she is there on the census until her death in 1907 (she married Thomas Syms) I can't find her in 1861 with Daniel, and infact can't find a definite Daniel in 1861 either

Many thanks

David

Can you clarify please - is she with Daniel & family in 1871 as I can't see an entry in Glamorgan?

If she's not with Daniel - where did you get his birthyear/birthplace from and his year of death

Hi Carole, thanks for looking.

She is living not with family in 1871 in ferndale at 51 fountain street, after this she is married to Thomas Syms, cannot find her in 1861. Daniel Lewis is living with the Syms family in 1891 and 1901 in ferndale and is buried in 1903 (he is buried with Thomas Syms brother) can only find one entry for Daniel that fits and that is in 1841 in new church but he is not with family then either. Although his age on 1901 census doesn't exactly match the death record by a couple of years it is him due to the burial in a family plot.
