'Co.Home' - Irish Birth Certificate

Hi

On 'Date and Place of Birth' column is written 'Co. Home' followed by town etc. What does 'Co. Home' mean please?

County Home replaced the Workhouse.

Found this for the Carlow one but they would all have the same function.      
(a) A County Home at Carlow for aged and infirm persons, harmless lunatics and epileptics, children and unmarried mothers.
