Hello,
My Great Uncle died on the 16/04/1918 and is buried at Canada Farm Cemetry IV.A.35.
He was a Rifleman in the Royal Irish Rifles 16th Bn service no 62
I have a copy of his WW1 medal Rolls card but is there a service card showing his movements etc during his service
Thankyou

Wee bit of detective work tells me he is George McClure?  No surviving service record unfortunately, the Register of Soldiers Effects shows he was owed £20.18.4 which was split between brothers John and James and 3 sisters.  His gratuity was split between brothers John and Mark.  He is listed both in the "Soldiers died in the Great War" and "Ireland, casualties of War".
You'll find an overview of the 16th Bn in the 36th (Ulster) Division here http://www.1914-1918.net/36div.htm.

The war diary of the Bn is on Ancestry, I'll have a look at 16 April 1918 when a number of R Irish Rifles died on the same day.  More later.

War Diary 16 Apr 1918 (summary)  (Out of the line in a camp north of Ypres).  1130pm Transport detachment at Murat Lines shelled, 5 killed 2 wounded.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
