1911 Census - FREE to view for Wales
« on: Monday 20 January 14 13:29 GMT (UK) »
I've just noticed that Ancestry appear to be offering FREE access to the 1911 Census returns for WALES, plus the Summary Books.  All the other areas require a subscription.

Sorry, I can't check it out, as I already have a subscription to Ancestry.  Perhaps someone who does not have a subscription would like to check it out.

Obviously this does not change the RootsChat policy of NO LOOK UP REQUESTS.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

I was having a nice cup of coffee and thought I'd check  :D

I wonder if they will ask non-subscribers for their credit card details.

I've just got my daughter to try it out.  She does not have a subscription BUT she is able to see 1881 England and 1911 Wales entries -AND she did not have to give credit/debit card numbers  ;D ;D

Well done Ancestry  :)

Strange or not but I rarely use Ancestry for the 1911. It was the first census where my Mother and Father showed up as infants -bless  :)

(In Wales, please note!)
