I am tracing my family tree but I cannot find any information on my grandad, he was from Auchinleck Ayrshire.  His name was Richard Napier Fleming and was born in 1905. He lived in Stirling where he married my Granny Susan Fleming nee Cannon.  They had four children Betty, Janet, Margaret and Richard.  They used to live in Broad street.  My Grandad died in the second world war 1943.   ???

Hello and welcome to Rootschat

Have you looked on the Scotlands People site for his marriage and birth?  It is a pay to view site but it is free to search.  On their index there is the birth of a Richard Napier Fleming in 1903 in Ayrshire in the District of Muirkirk  http://scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Kay

Edit In 1929 in Stirling the index lists the marriage of a Richard Napier Fleming to Susan Cannon.  This would list his parents names

Hello Ambmeg.  Your grandfather Richard Napier Fleming and my grandmother were cousins.  Your gr grandfather Richard Napier Fleming and my gr grandfather William Fleming were brothers.  My side of the Flemings emigrated to NZ in the mid 1920's after moving from Ayrshire to Loanhead and then to Wemyss in Fife.  I'll be visiting Scotland later in the year and looking forward to going to Stirling Castle and searching through their Military records.  Regards Moyra.  Brisbane Australia.
