Anne CRAVEN & William MORGAN - marriage 1793 Llanover
« on: Saturday 15 February 14 01:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm searching for more information about Anne CRAVEN who married William MORGAN in Llanover in 1793. I found their marriage certificate in FindMyPast but it doesn't give any further details about a birth location, parents names or occupation.

Their daughter Sarah, born in 1794 in Llanover was baptised in the same church that her parents were married. I don't have any further location data that I've found for them after this date.

Many thanks for any assistance.

what you see is what you get for a parish marriage entry. Names & occupations of fathers are included from civil registration in 1837. Place of birth doesn't appear.

Have you looked for other events with the surname Craven in the parish?
There's a marriage in 1808 for a Jane Craven and one of the witnesses was a William Morgan. Judging by the writing, it's the man who married Ann.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had been trying baptism records to see if Sarah had any siblings but couldn't find any that appears to belong to this family. I wondered if they had moved to a different parish or if Anne might have died early and Sarah was an only child.

I also looked for baptism or marriage records for around the time of Anne's birth but couldn't find any. I'll try searching other marriages for Craven in Llanover.

sorry, I gave you the wrong year for Jane Craven's marriage. It was 1803. Can't read my own writing!

Jane died in 1826, noted as wife of George Rees, miner, abode Quick Buildings, Llanwenarth, her age given as 48.

Haven't spotted a baptism for her yet, but not everything is online.

Thanks. I had looked it up and have the correct year of marriage. The date of death also helps. I still can't find any baptism records. I don't think they are online  :(
