Victorian Birth & Death locations for, MUND, ECA & PARK
« on: Monday 17 February 14 03:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have a number of Victorian birth registrations with the place of birth as MUND and some Victorian death registrations with ECA and PARK.

MUND, ECA & PARK are abbreviations for registration districts but I don't know where, thought ECA might be Echuca.

Any ideas please

Gerry

Hi Gerry,
Just guessing really, but PARK  could be Parkville where there are a few hospitals.

What decades were the births?

Have you tried looking at Elctoral Rolls to get an idea where your people may have lived?

We can help with that if needed ;D

Hi

Like Sue I think MUND is Mundoona. A quick google shows a tree on Rootsweb with a person born MUND, Victoria, a sibling was born in Wyuna which is not that far from Mundoona.

PARK could be Parkville or Parkdale

I think you are right about ECA being Echuca.

I see a number of births at ECA (strangely all in 1873)

One of the 1873 families had births in future years registered at the fuller spelling of Echuca.

Thanks Sue for the relpy.

One lot of births went for the same family

1873,Napoloens
1875,Mund
1878,Mund
1881,Mund
1884,Wyuna
1886,Wyuna

The deaths were
1910, eca
1910, Park
1961, Park

Next step is the Electoral Rolls to try and get a better idea of their final years but the surname (Hayes) is very common and first names were often switched around.

4 siblings arrived from Tipperary around 1856 and between them they had 45 children, I'm trying to track them down.

Sue & Andy,

The family ended up settling in Kyabram where Thomas Hayes the father was a butcher so the Mundoona looks positive.
