Enid COULSON mystery
« on: Monday 17 February 14 08:59 GMT (UK) »
Today I received a transcript of the birth certificate for Enid COULSON. She was born 8 March 1912 in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown NSW. Her mother was Mary Cook COULSON, born Glasgow, age 27, no father listed  - as I expected.

The mystery is what became of Enid. I can't find a death or marriage for her, nor any mention in Trove.

Can anyone help?

What became of mother Mary Cook COULSON?    Who is the informant on this record please?

What is the date and place of the registration please...as distinct from the birth....might suggest if Mary kept baby Enid.

Is this your Mary COULSON?

NSW BDM marriage
14032/1928  COULSON  Mary C  m. RICHARDS  Charles H                  Burwood
5333/1914  COULSON Elizabeth T  m.  HENDERSON  David M            Drummoyne

death
1455/1953  RICHARDS  Mary Cook  parents   Thomas / Jennie Hunter         Newton
13535/1939  HENDERSON  Elizabeth Tweedle parents  Thomas / Jean Hunter    Burwood

Is this marriage of sister Elizabeth?

Do you have marriage and death certificate for Mary RICHARDS nee COULSON?

Ennael and wivenhoe, thanks for your replies.

Mary was the informant on Enid's birth certificate. Her address was 24 Darlinghurst Rd, Darlinghurst. The witness was RJ Montgomery. The birth was registered on 20 March 1912 in Newtown. Present at the birth were Dr Wallace, NurseFrazer Thompson and Nurse Purnell.

Yes, Mary married Charles Richards and sister Elizabeth married David Henderson. Their parents were Thomas Coulson and Jane Bennie. I do have both marriage and death certificates for Mary. Her death says no children of the marriage. She was a spinster on her marriage. I think she'd been Charles' housekeeper for many years - he was a widower. They lived in Flemington from at least 1928 to her death in 1953.

Mary had another daughter Nancy Edith Coulson on 19 August 1919 in Paddington, also father unknown. She was the informant on her mother's death. Also possibly a son Frank Coulson, mother Mary Coulson born 1915 Newtown. He died in St Leonards the same year.
