I have added quite a bit of information (I paid the sub) but it was really hard and my great uncle's war service record couldn't be found - even tho' I had just been looking at it on Ancestry.  I want to add a couple more things; I have a picture, mentions in a couple of newspapers at the time and a story.

The main group doing this are not IWM but DC Thompson publishers of Dundee and that is one company I will not support.

Yes, this is the same company that have 'improved' FindmyPast. One would hope that this has been better tested, but their feedback forum would suggest that it may not be that intuitive and not yet complete with suggestions (errors?) already over 200. Although it is very understandable that information is only to be added when a proper source is cited, so they hopefully don't end up like many of the unsourced trees on various ancestry sites.

Those names added so far are from the medal card index. If a man has two entries in the medal card index  (one of my granddad's brother has a separate entry for his Military Medal) then they are entered twice. There is no way to combine them at the moment.

I am so glad I have found all your comments as I was begining to think that I am rather stupid. I do not need to look up anything as I have most info already. Have not even been able to upload photographs.

I signed up as a tester, but could not get on with the site at all. I kept thinking I must be missing something, as I could not even get started. My grandfather (unusual name) did not seem to be there at all, and a couple of other relatives had common names. The information on the medal cards is so sparse that I could see no way of finding the right men. I think I found grandfather on the Nat. Archives site, mis-spelled, paid to see the original, also mis-spelled, so I could see no way forward and gave up.

I joined but changed my mind and tried to unsubscribe by using a link at the bottom of their email. It didn't work. What does this tell you?

Hi Rich

I tried using the link at the bottom of their emails but no success. However, I did contact them using the "Contact" section in their website. I received an email and eventually I was able to unsubscribe. I'll look at the time span it took for the whole procedure.

Keep trying. :)
