Mangan from Blakestown/Maynooth nr Dublin
« on: Monday 24 February 14 09:55 GMT (UK) »
I have just found the birth of my 2xGt grandfather Peter Mangan from UK railway records. He was a farrier/blacksmith and was born in Blakestown on 2 May 1869. He married Madeline Walsh in Dublin on 3 Feb 1896 and they were both living in London by the end of the year when my Gt grandmother was born.

Does anyone have any information on Blakestown/Maynooth registers or of the Mangan family from this area  ???

Thanks in advance  :)

Hello and welcome  :)

This birth looks very likely https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F58T-RXN

Family Search has other children born to this couple. If you search for Mangan, Kildare and put parents names in.

You can send for a photocopy of his birth registration  http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx. Which would give his father's occupation and perhaps a townland of birth.

1901 census may also have his family. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie

Heywood

Brilliant - wasn't aware of the link to welfare.ie! Only just starting researching Irish and Scottish ancestry so this is a great help.
