Bury St Edmunds - O'Connor, Noah and Ivy
« on: Monday 24 February 14 21:28 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for descendants of Noah O'Connor, who lived in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, until 1987/1989.

He had a daughter Margaret by a previous relationship, but is known to have married Ivy Lillian Frost in 1974. She sadly died in February 1978, aged just 51.

Noah (who has been seen in records as 'Noam') was about 25 years older than Ivy.

Any information on Noah's previous wife (or wives?) and on Margaret (who is probably now in her 60s, and has children) would be most helpful.

I'm researching this little bit of info for an old school friend, a non-genealogist/family tree fan, and who is the granddaughter of Ivy Frost. As some of these people are more recent than the usual request, feel free to message me privately, rather than post here.

hope you can help
Andrew

He appears as Noam on his 1974 marriage entry which is a mis-transcription as the GRO index shows him as Noah

The only Noah O'Connor death in Suffolk was in 1979 aged 63 which doesn't seem to tie in with what you say about him living in Suffolk to 1987/89

If Noah was 25yrs older than Ivy, he must have been born around 1901
When and where did he die?

Looks like they didn't stay in Bury St. Edmunds - I note that Ivy died in Cambridge, and there's a death for a Noah O'Connor 1989 Oxford with a birth date of 13/12/1908.

He, therefore, would appear to be the one reg'd Norwich in Mar.qtr.1909.

Looks like he could have married a Britannia Buckland Jun.qtr.1929 Bristol.

There is only one child of an O'Connor/Buckland union with the name you mentioned born in 1944.

1st wife Britannia O'Connor bc.1909 and died Mar.qtr.1962 Bury St. Edmunds.

Annette, Dee, and Carole,

Big thank you for this information!

I'm hoping that I can find Margaret's line, although Margaret O'Connors are somewhat hard to find. I believe that she was in Suffolk during the 1970s, but this might be incorrect.

Good ol' family rumour mill!
