Thanks. Yes it was a church marriage. Can give you more details but will probably be tomorrow before I can dig out my copy of the marriage certificate.

I've found it now - I hadn't considered Ystradyfodwg for a marriage location!  The witnesses could be Margaret's parents or a brother and his wife or just 'others'  :-\

Trying to find John on the censues but nothing so far.

If Beaman is a variation of Beaumont  ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaman_%28surname%29 ), I might have found Charles Owen's parents' marriage in Penstrowed, July 1821 -  John Owen of Mochdre and Martha Beaman of Penystrywaid/Penstrowed, by Licence - see  the National Lib of Wales, Marriage Bonds*  - I think they might well have been the parents on the baptism that I found in Reply#5.
