Yes, I did get Sarah’s maiden name from Thomas’ birth certificate. The lack of a post 1837 marriage record is frustrating although, apparently not unusual in those early days of BMD registration. I have also drawn a blank with parish registers in Carnarfon, Wrexham and Paddington, where they lived in London. Likewise for their respective parish birth records in Carnarfon and Minera. I should count myself lucky that the surname is not Jones.
