John Eaton (1814-1902) Ballyneaner Nat School Principal .
« on: Wednesday 05 March 14 00:24 GMT (UK) »
Location: Ballyneanor (Townland), Dunamanagh, Strabane

John Eaton was a teacher from 1836 - 1881 and lived in the school house. During my research into Ballyneaner Nat. School which shut in 1966 I was under the illusion, until recently, that John Eaton was Albert Eaton's grandfather. The Eatons (Albert)were the next door neighbours ; alas no more. Albert Eaton's father is called Samuel & grandfather is called Alexander ; likewise his great grandfather. John Eaton had children and had rented 'a small farm' from W.Ogilby (Landlord, gov. of the school & of the Castle fame !!)

Is John Eaton related to the family above ?       ----the headstones are in the same plot.

John Eaton was Albert (SAC) Eaton's great uncle and rented land next to the school while Alexander (his granddad) rented land from Ogilby next to Ballyneaner PO. (both lands adjacent) John retired from teaching in Oct/Nov 1881.
