Alexander MacKenzie d prior to 1823 Tranent
« on: Friday 07 March 14 00:09 GMT (UK) »
From the marriage of Christian MacKenzie and James Veitch OPR: "James Veitch, Tailor in Elphingstone and Christian MacKenzie, daughter of the deceased Alexander MacKenzie in Elphingstone were proclaimed 25 October and 9th November and married 14 November 1823"

I am trying to find the death record of Alexander MacKenzie who died prior to 14 November 1823.  He had married Christian Knox.  I am also trying to find the parents of this Alexander MacKenzie but having no luck.  Any suggestions?

Thank you

Scott

Hi Scott

Regarding a possible death or mention in the OPRs for Alexander McKenzie, I am sure you know that the death & burials in the OPRs are the hardest to find - see www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/Content/Help/index.aspx?r=554&1353 You may not find anything that gives you this information but there may be some clues elsewhere hopefully.

I have looked in the OPR for death records with no luck - I am hoping for a headstone or similar.  I have had no luck whatsoever.

Hi,
I had a look on freereg  for  East Lothian there were only three Alexander Mackenzie

burials in OPR's  none for the dates you have given and all in Dunbar.

I have looked too - and have had no luck.

Here is the marriage of Alexander's daughter, Christian to James Veitch:

http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/SearchResults.pl?RecordType=Marriages&RecordID=2496511

At the bottom it indicates "daughter of the deceased Alexander McKenzie"

Not having much luck beyond that.  I suspect that he was born in the Tranent area, including North Berwick.  But at the moment, I have no way to prove it.
