Thomas Thistle/Tisdale/Teasdale
« on: Friday 07 March 14 13:36 GMT (UK) »
Big confusion with the identity Thomas Thistle/Tisdale.  Thomas Thistle born Abbotsbury c1545/7.
Married Edith Rose Abbotsbury 16 Nov 1570. Parents may be Thomas Thistle c1519 Abbotsbury and Joan Knapp B? abbotsbury.

Thomas Thistle/ b1545 Sanford Dealy Berkshire and baptised 13/10/1547.  According to biography his parents were Thomas Tisdale d1556 and mother Joan Knapp.  Thomas Thistle married Maud Stone (maiden name) in 1567who was ;) born abt 1542 Henley on Thames and died 1616.  There is a memorial now Thomas and maud in St.Marys Church Glymston.

There seems to be a common thread on Ancestry that Thomas born and died in Abbotsbury and Thomas from Berkshire are the same person.  The two spouses overlap and it doesn't seem to fit to me.  Can anyone help please.

Julie

Welcome to Rootschat.

I know nothing about the families but, on your evidence, the Thomases appear to be two different people.

Ancestry is riddled with trees compiled by authors who base their 'facts' on nothing more than a vague co-incidence of dates. A quick search will reveal some odder examples than the one you quote. Familysearch has other Thomas Teasdales born in the 1540s, so it doesn't appear to be a very rare name.

Thank you Rihard for your response.  A good reminder to check and double check and if in doubt leave it out.

Thanks again
