Thank you again to terrific  Dundee and Tas Tyger : :) :)   Little did I know when I asked for my simple request for a look up how far this would come.  It is so exciting to think how all this has come about. Your help has been invaluable to me.
I can't fully take it all in at the moment. There is some sort of crazy logic to it all.
I tried to get in touch with the Roots Web person who is also on Ancestry.  No luck so far. Will try some other emails.
I am already directly related to another NSW Lord family and my convict Maria Coverley became ...you guessed it ...Maria Lord on marriage to convict James Lord. Ahhhh....seemingly no end to the confusion.
I have found the Maria Jones and James Smith marriage record. Will find and post. I think I will try and look at witnesses to their children's marriages too.

1854 marriage of Maria Jones and James Smith:

The when and where married is slightly tricky? St Marys Church, Franklin... What is the next bit?

I just wanted to let you know that I also received Mary Ann Faith's death certificate today. The informant is her husband and he lists her parents as James Moody, Farmer and Elizabeth Johns.

John Moody and Ruth Ella Carrier's marriage certificate also indicates that his mother was Elizabeth Smith.  Even though they married 7 August 1906 at Kingston, "according to Usages of the Methodist Church", the marriage was not registered until 31/12/1907. Witnesses were: A L Moody and H Faith. Celebrant was S Churchward.
So that is all of them, except Sarah Moody, who I have never been able to find.

Sorry, I don't know who these Moody's are that you are mentioning? I don't know that there is a connection?
