It was suggested by a family member that our family originated from Meath (but this was unconfirmed).
My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was called Patrick Harris, and he first shows up in London, England in 1864 marrying Sarah Ann Shirley. His fathers' name was John Harris (a farmer).
He then lives in Kent, dying in Deal in 1890 at age (apparently) of 63.
All census records state he is from Ireland (but no town or county mentioned).
I have just found a baptism for a Patrick Harris on 27th March, 1825 in Summerhill, Meath - the son of John Harris and Rose McCan.
I am thinking that this is my ancestor.
Can anybody find any information on Patrick Harris from Summerhill, so that I can find out if this Patrick did move to England.
Also, any information on his parents would be gratefully received.
