In search of a Nun.
« on: Wednesday 19 March 14 14:43 GMT (UK) »
Elizabeth (or Elisabeth) Crawford was born to a 'well-known Meath family' in 1826/27.  She became a nun of the Sister of Charity order and spent most of her life in Sheffield Yorkshire.  She was known as Sister Stephanie and was the Superior at a Sheffield Catholic Reformatory.
She died in Sheffield in 1897.
Would like to find out more about her family in Meath.
Any help much appreciated - thanks.

When you mention "well-known Meath family" do you know her parents names?
www.rootsireland.ie (pay site) has 3 baptism records for Elizabeth Crawford for years 1836, 1839 , 1854. Perhaps she was baptised elsewhere other than Meath?
If you were to purchase her death record from 1897 it may provide some answers :)
