SOLLITT - Huttons Ambo

Hi Viv,

Thanks for your reply and glad to see someone is still researching the Sollitts. We are connected then, I think but through an earlier line.

My great grandmother was Fanney SOLLITT born in 1857 in Huttons Ambo. Her father was Dodson Sollitt, son of George Sollitt and Ann Dodson. Fanney married John Coulson and they came to Queensland, Australia in 1884 with the first four of their children and two of her brothers, Charles & Richard Sollitt. My grandmother, Alice was the first of the rest of their children born here.

Still looking into who Herbert's father was
I have been told he was a Scottish salesman and every time he cane through Sarah Ended up preggers!
William Sarah's husband died in 1875 Guisborough
Which begs the question who were the father of Harriet born 1877

Plus three born in workhouse while in the workhouse! I always thought women and men were not allowed to have sexual relation inside?
but three times? With Ernest 1884, Ada 1887 and Herbert 1890 my branch
I did see the Guisborough head's were sacked could letting the men and women have further children one of the reasons?
Could anyone shine a light on this
Also Herbert's birth took 6 months to register has him born in workhouse
