So,

Now you know that Michael Breen died between 1874 & 1884 !

. . . and that John Forde died between 1901 & 1911

I can't find a marriage for Mary Curtin and Michael Breen in Kerry BUT then I remembered that Mary said on both census' that she was from Cork.

So, first it sounds like she wasn't a Knockbrack Curtin.

So, I had a look in Cork and this was the nearest thing that I could find ~

It's a Mary Curtin, and one of the three choices was a Michael Brien (possible a misuse of Breen).

First name(s)    Mary
Last name    Curtin
Registration year    1871
Registered Quarter/Year    1871
Registration district    Kanturk

County    -
MarriageFinder™    Mary Curtin married one of these people
Timothy Hickey, Michael Brien, Timothy Connell

No guarantees but might be worth the €4 gamble to get the cert !

Thank you Tara for your help. You make it seem easy with the Irish records. We hadn't got any of this information.

A question if I may about when women re-marry. We assume that once they become a widow, if they re-marry they tend to use their maiden name. This would be the case for Mary Curtin.

I think the only thing left to work on is tracing Denis O'Connor back to find out if Edmund is his brother?
Kent mainly. Butcher, Dodd, Martin, Highwood, Hopkins, Shoat, Goldup, Thornby, Hammon, Edwards, Taylor, Back, Gower, Stevens, Read, Ottaway,

No great choices for a Michael Breen death in the 1874 - 1884 bracket that we are talking about.

There is an ~

1821 - 1876 Tralee Register

1852 - 1882 Kenmare Register

1821 - 1884 Killarney Register

Re widows remarrying ~ do you mean, what would be on the marriage register ?

Or do you mean, how would they show on Census and the like, and how they would be known to their friends ?
