Look up for birth

Hope someone can help. Looking for a birth 1870 for William Augustas lambe. His parents were  George William Lambe born 1833 died 1894 and his mother was Ann Jane Cross born limerick, Ireland 1848.

There is some speculation that he was illegitamate,  but we can't find a birth for him in London or Ireland.

WE can't even find a marriage for Ann Jane Cross and  George William Lambe.

Hi,

There are several online trees for him; some cite his birthplace as Ireland...... others Tottenham! Can you find him on any census and see what is shown for his birthplace?

Perhaps his birth was not registered.

Could he have been registered under the name Cross if he was illegitimate?
There is one in 1868 but in Norfolk 

Have you got him in 1871 somewhere?

Or he was adopted by that couple so that wasn't his birth name.  That could give rise to the illegitimate rumour.

WE can't even find a marriage for Ann Jane Cross and  George William Lambe.

George William Lamb 42 widower

1881 gives birthplace Islington 1870 but army record gives birth year 1876 maybe to tie in with the marriage.

Where is everyone in 1871 if "parents" not yet wed.

I see George was a widower at the 1875 marriage.
Maybe William was a child from his first marriage

Who did he marry - Emily Florence Churchward in 1890?  The William Augustus married to her says father George deceased occupation short hand writer.  So if correct George died before 1890 not 1894

This is a tangle.  In 1901 William and Florence have a brother George Lamb 19 (looks more like 17) born Islington living with them - where did he come from

There's a George Philip Lambe born Islington Sep 1883 and wasn't Ann Jane Cross father called Philip - interesting.

Annie Rachel 19 Feb 1882.
