Just ASK and ASK all the time really.

The name Edith Kirkwook is not common in Scotland, thank goodness. For example, I am not seeing many entries of marriages post 1945. One in Ayrshire in 1950.

I also know that if you do have a marriage, you can search on a terminal post late 1920s for children to a marriage using mother's maiden name. You can't use wildcards for this. Thankfully Kirkwood is not one of those tricky surnames with a multitude of variants!
