I am researching Lebias. To start with, it's not easy as the spelling of his name is never consistant. Sometimes it's Lebias, Lebius, Lebbeus etc.
I have found that he was born in Ysceifiog. His birth was registered at Holywell Q1 1841. He married Mary Evans in 1864 and then lived in Cilcain. He died 1911.
His later life is fine. It is his parents that I can't find.
On the 1841C he is at Drefraith, Ysceifiog with his grandfather Edward Jones (75), grandmother Jane (70), their daughter Anne (25) and two grandchildren Joseph JONES (4) and Lebias JONES (5m).
On the 1851C he is at the same address with grandfather Edward Jones (85), his daughter Anne (35) and the 2 grandchildren now listed as Joseph PARRY (14) and Lebbeus WILLIAMS (10).
Anne is shown as unmarried.
Originally I thought Joseph and Lebias were both Anne's illegitimate children. Now seeing the names as Parry and Williams causes concern.
Hopefully a Birth Certificate for Lebias would give a clue to his parentage but Joseph was born pre BMD registration.
I have tried to find Baptisms for both children, but found nothing.
I wonder if anyone knows of this family or has access to Parish Records which may give further information on their parents.
