** Tommy Millar, 1st labour councillor 1928 ** COMPLETE **
« on: Sunday 20 April 14 15:46 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on Tommy Millar who, I believe, was the 1st labour councillor in Clackmannanshire in 1928. His brother was Jimmy Millar, also a labour councillor and coach of Sauchie Junior FC. Also any information on their brothers and sisters would be very much appreciated.

I think these may be parents/family for them in 1901 - everyone born in Sauchie except for John:

John Millar 26 coal miner b. Banton, stirlingshire
Isabella Millar 25
Jeanie P Millar 4
Isabella S Millar 2

Address: Sauchie

Dates for John: b. 24 May 1874 in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire. Death 1952. Parents John Miller and Jean Provan.

Dates for Isabella Snaddon Rankine: b. 1876 and died 1916 in Sauchie. Parents Thomas Rankine and Isabella Snaddon.

A little more from online trees:

Remarriage for father John following wife Isabella's death in 1916, to a Janet Fraser in 1918. Janet Fraser must be the mother of Jimmy if he was born in 1919?

Just found this:

James Fraser Millar (Jimmy naturally) 1919 – 2002
One more daughter from this second marriage: Janet Garrick Millar 1927 – 1928.

Other children from John and Isabella:

Jeanie Provan Millar 1897 – 1971. Married Alexander Lennox in 1920.

Isabella Snaddon Millar 1899 – 1976. Married Alexander McKay in 1922.

John Millar 1900 - 1901.

Thomas Rankine Millar 1902 - 1970. Married Mary Jane Johnstone Paterson in 1933.

George Millar 1904 -

Robert Rankine Millar 1905 – 1952. Married Catherine Neilson O'Connor in 1928.

Mary Millar 1908 – 1954

Sarah Rankine Millar 1909 – 1954. Married Thomas Archibald in 1930.

Missing a few children there post 1909 but this hopefully helps. A number of family trees showing online on a/try. If you are keen to progress further, you will need to make direct contact with family.

Thanks for your help Monica.

I had found this previously and posted on here to see if anyone knew about Tommy or their other brothers and sisters or even details of their mother and father.
I looked at Thomas Millar census returns in Alloa 1911 and four came up. Was trying to save some money if I knew when Tommy was born.
Any further help appreciated.

Monica  -  just seen your other replies and Jimmy did have a middle initial which was "F".
Looks like you found his mother (and father) for me.

Thank you very much and greatly appreciated again.
