Queens Road Wimbledon SW19
« on: Tuesday 22 April 14 07:09 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help me find the original purpose of the long brick a stone building in Queens Road Wimbledon (SW19)?
In the middle of its length there is an archway through, with what looks like accommodation above it. The long building is now turned into many flats with Dormer windows and the long strip windows along the length of the roof retained.

Shaun I think we are there, thanks for your help.
I was there yesterday visiting family and was intrigued by the building and its possible history.
The current view that this was an old Tram Depot didn't seem right to me but now I know the true story.
Again thanks for all your help

Norman - I lived opposite the depot for 20 years. It contained the council vehicles such as dustcarts which drove under the archway until the taller ones arrived and the went in near Trinity Rd end. A family
lived each side of the archway and one had a little boy and younger twins. The older boy went on the rail tracks and had burns on his arms which left scars. J Cleverley
