Richard Crookham (b. c. 1739) and Ellen Birchall (b. c. 1738)

Richard and Ellen married at Halsall in 1760 and had children in Aughton in the 1760s and '70s (Elizabeth, Alice, William, Thomas and James). They moved to Crosby by the early 1800s and Ellen died there in 1810. She was buried Formby where her gravestone gives her age at death as 72 (i.e. born c. 1738) . Richard lived on several more years and died in Thornton in 1821 "aged 82" (i.e. born c. 1739)

I have not been able to find baptismal records for either of this couple. Many online trees link to a 1745 baptism for an Ellen Birchall in Aughton, but as well as placing her at just turned 15 for her marriage, there is already a marriage in Birchall for this Ellen at 1767.

So...does anyone have access to any Lancashire PRs for the right period that aren't included on FamilySearch or the Lancs PR website? Or anyone have any leads on where to try and find these two peoples' origins...?

Familysearch has baptism for
Ellen Birchall born 11.12.1736 bap 26.12.1736 at Newchurch Kenyon to a Jon Birchall.
Not too up on the area,so not sure how near that is.

Ellen Brackill 22.9.1734 to Richard  at Hoole.

Thanks, but sadly those locations are, respectively, 24 and 39 miles away from Halsall, so it's a bit of a stretch...

Hoole, or more specifically Much Hoole, where the church is, is about 14 miles from the centre of Aughton. Down the turnpike and turn right at Ormskirk.

Might be worth another look.

I wonder if I've found her? Two years out on birthdate, and unfortunately the father's name doesn't appear amongst those of her children. But then again, neither does her mother's, which is also her own name!

Siblings Elizabeth 1730, Jane 1733 (Dad is a collier), John 1738 (Dad is a blacksmith).

The family appear not to stay in the area, as no death records are recorded for the parents (no marriage record either, intriguingly!)
