im sure that was the church we used to go to,when we stayed with my Aunt Nelly in Cooldrinagh.and also where my Parents were married.

That would be it Bambi 1, it was  the only Catholic church in Leixlip for years before another was built in Confey (up Captains hill). Church of Our Ladys Nativity is at very top of town on a slight hill, so coming from Cooldrinagh you would have walked over bridge at Salmon Leap and walked straight through the village, crossed over the Rye River bridge below the castle to get to the church. Perhaps that will refresh your memory? When I'm on at weekend I'll post a picture of church for you.

oh sams mam that has brought back lots of memories,there was a pub just before the bridge called Salam Leap we went in there whenever we went back to ireland with mum and dad.my grandmother died between 1960/64.i remember mum taking me to a graveyard i think it was up a hill i was only young at the time.would you know which one it could be.and thanks for the photo

That would be Confey Graveyard. It's up Captains Hill. It would have been quite a good walk from the village in the 60's. The Salmon Leap pub was a great wee place. It closed a few years back I believe, I moved from Leixlip about 10 years ago, my parents and brother are in Confey graveyard though and I've siblings in the area so I go up quite a bit.
Quite a few of the headstones in the graveyard are now available to view on line. Google Confey graveyard Leixlip and it might come up for you. What was your grandmothers name? I knew some of the people over in Cooldrinagh.
