Pringle family from Clones
« on: Wednesday 14 May 14 23:02 BST (UK) »
Hi..

I am researching my great grandmother's family, originated from Rateerbane, Newbliss, Clones, Co. Monaghan.

Her parents were:
James Pringle (b. 1856 d. 1920) and Mary Moore (b. 1861). They had 5 children, 4 had lived. The children's names were: Thomas, Elizabeth, Joseph C. (I think Charles) and Maggie Jane. My great grandmother was Elizabeth.

Thank you in advance if anyone knows anything!

~Erika

Although the 1901 census return says "Joseph C":

... the 1911 census record clearly identifies him as Joseph Charles:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Monaghan/Newbliss/Rateerbane/805384/

There is a civil registration that fits:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBDD-ZPX

Also a marriage that just might be him (the only match I could see was a Mary Jane Forster):

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYJP-8J6

A search of the RootsIreland website index brings back a marriage of James Pringle to Mary Moore in 1886, his father was John Pringle, hers was John Moore. The given parish/district for the record is Drumkeen Presbyterian Church, Aghabog Parish.

Alternatively, you can order a photocopy of the civil marriage, registered in Cootehill, County Cavan:

Thank you so much for all of this information! I didn't have those church records or Mary's father's name so that is very interesting information!
