Thanks for the information about your family.  It sounds like they had a lucky escape by not boarding the ship.

For privacy reasons (and Rootschat policy) you might like to edit the details of you and your siblings.

From the available records it doesn't seem very likely that your grandmother May was born in India in 1915.
 
The military records for her father Alfred William Baldwin show he enlisted in the NZ army in 1913. You may know that the War Museum has Alfred's uniform in its collection.  Her brother Francis was born in Timaru in 1913 and another brother Alexander (Alec) was born in Auckland in February 1915.

The record for the birth of May Violet Baldwin in Allahabad in 1910 can be found on FindMyPast.co.uk [EDIT] and her baptism is on the Families in British India site here: https://search.fibis.org/frontis/bin/aps_detail.php?id=1625040.

The NZ BDM site shows the birth of Harold Gordon Whittingham was registered in 1916.
