he's also with Joseph, and widowed in 1901 (Ancestry have them as Cowing)

Ah looking at it, I think the 1901 Census is incorrect as Sarah isn't mentioned in any of the previous census records I've found that match up.
So it is looking that Jane died in 1899

I shall have to do some more research to back all this up. Thanks for the updated info!

Hi JoshWa, I'm new to this site and forum. I too have been tracing the Cowan's on and off for years, my ancestor is the Robert, aged 6, in the thread, younger son of George and Jane. I've struggled to locate a death or census for Robert after his wife Ellen,nee Collins,died. Whilst I struggle on with that, would you have any info to share on George, as I too am researching him.
