Walpole house in Peel
« on: Saturday 17 May 14 17:06 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any information on a guest house in Peel owned by Caroline Jane McMurdoch who died in 1950.
We assume she gave up the guest house and then lived in Stanley Road Peel.

these houses were requistioned during WW2 as an internment camp - one of several on Island - Peel housed British Fascists (several Police from East London were moved to Peel as they were familiar with controlling them!)  + also some IRA + some Italians - surrounded by barbed wire to top of Walpole road where a couple of houses were also requisitioned - there was one escape attempt made that dug a tunnel under the Peel-Ramsey road that runs at top of Walpole drive
