Researching Milmoes from Ballymote, Co Sligo
« on: Wednesday 21 May 14 19:50 BST (UK) »
My Paternal Grandmother was Bridget (known as Bea) Milmoe(1904-1972). She Married Thomas Gallagher in 1924. She had a Brother Patrick (1897-1994), and a sister Kate.  Bea's Mother, Mary Dunne died and Be a was reared by her Maternal Grandparents.  Her sister Kate, we believe was sent to live with relatives in Scotland.  Bea's father (Johnny Milmoe, (her mother's name was Mary Dunne) remarried, but I don't know his 2nd wife's name.

Patrick Married Bridget Killoran, and lived in Rhode Island, USA.   The only children of his that I have record of is a Son called James who died in his twenties from a rare blood disorder.

I would also love to find some details of Kate or her relations in Scotland!

Thanks for your time!

Michelle Gallagher Ruane

It looks like Patrick was married to Elizabeth Killoran.  They can be seen on the 1935 Rhode Island state census and 1940 US census on www.familysearch.org, as well as on www.findagrave.com.  They appear to have had another son who died young - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F8C8-JRL

Hello Michelle,

Do you have the marriage details for John Milmoe and Mary Dunne. That would give you his father's name if you wanted to go back.
If he stayed in Sligo, there are two possible marriages in 1920.
There are also two possible deaths:
John Milmoe 64 yrs in 1932
John Milmoe 72 yrs in 1941

The first is closer in age I think but ages are never reliable.

Regards
Heywood
