Dundee Howff and other cemeteries
« on: Saturday 24 May 14 19:00 BST (UK) »
Unsure whether it is appropriate to post a web link in this forum section but hope it will be of use to someone. I am webmaster for Tombs of the Dundee Howff, this site includes an almost complete photographic survey of the Howff cemetery in the centre of Dundee as well as pages for the New Howff (Constitution Road), St Aidan's, Logie and St Peter's with more to come in the future.

Many thanks

Thank you so much for posting this Dazx.
I have just found a photo of a family burial plot on your site that I have been looking for for a very long time. I live to far away to visit myself and at the time when I looked I was told by someone from the council that no map of the cemetery existed and that the chances of locating the lair and a stone being present were slim to none. This has made my day  :D ;D :D
THANK YOU

I nearly thought I was onto a winner, they had the surname "Lyall"  Sadly the graveyard was replaced with a car park :-\
TEW family of Leire/Leicester and New Zealand
MERRICKS of Stafford/Birmingham
PENTECOST of Surrey and New Zealand
POTENTIER of France, England and Canada
WATKINS of London and New Zealand
WHITAKER of Guiseley Yorkshire and New Zealand
LYALL, of Dundee, Caithness and New Zealand

And far too many to add

Thats a shame, there sadly isnt alot of information regarding the New Howff (Constitution Rd) burial ground, but with a bit of digging (excuse the pun) I am hoping to get some additional stuff online over the coming months.

I have uploaded a new section, still work in progress for the Old Mains. Sadly there wasn't very much to record with a lot of memorials either lying face down or the inscriptions being very hard to read.

Dazx, what an amazing job has been done there. Just been looking through it. Great feel and structure to the site and very easy to find details on it.

Well done to you all who have been involved (might just have been you, if so, even bigger well done  ;)).

Monica  :)

Thank you for the comment, and yes I am the only nut out in the pouring rain with a soggy notebook and camera :)

...Thought it might have just been you  ;) which is why the site is amazing. A huge amount of work there. I have often referred to the Howff Database, which has so much detail. But, as a visual person, to now see it all in photos and more detail all around, it is great  :)
