Perciful for me too.

Perciful for me too.

Agreed - this is the spelling of the son's name. If you look at the place of birth of Alice (Paddington Green), the capital P is almost the same as the first letter of 'Winfred's' name - I think maybe the ink flowed a bit lightly to some parts of the letter.  :-\

I definitely can't see the name as Winfred though - odd interpretation of what I see on the census form ....

1911 Census - his name is hard to decipher, but ancestry has transcribed it as Winfred.

Find My Past transcribes it as Winfred too  ::) - and I have to admit it looked like Winfred to me as well, though I can see Perciful now....

I am pleased that you all agree with the interpretation of the entry, I just hope that RebeccaNZ agrees too  :)

Richmond Council has a burials website but there is no sign of them on there

Wow, thanks everyone for your help.

I think I did mention somewhere that I had started another thread before but I never had any confirmation about what the name actually was.

Thanks :)

I think it was pretty unanimous.  ::)

Did you ever buy Percival's birth certificate as advised on the previous thread in 2010?

Re: Percival Thorne not Winfred

No mystery, he was my Dad, born Newbridge, Monmouthshire 1904 died in 1984
My Grandfather was Edwin and he married Alice Louisa Rumbol in 1899 who had previously married William Frederick Shaw & James Yates
