marriage look-up possibly st helier plus 1851 census
« on: Thursday 29 May 14 21:05 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help with the marriage of a Charles Tapper (from England) to Jane ? maybe around 1841 but not sure.
Have them in 1841 with a 13 year old son and a 3 month old son.

Also would like to find them in the 1851 census.
Have found George in index as age 10 step son and Elizabeth 6 step daughter.
Can anyone give me the family.

As I live in England any help on this family is greatly appreciated

Thankyou very much. No Jane there though who was their mother.
Do you have access to the 1861 census by any chance I cant find them here in  England in 1861 but they are here in 1871.
Not sure when they arrived here yet

:) Hi Amelia, Elizabeth aged 17 is an Inmate in The Jersey General Hospital in 1861 RG09/4400/53/13

When you say " They are here in 1871" where is here? as George looks to be on 1871 (Unless another one) b Jersey and St HILLIER (on my site) in 1881 married to an Ann, also born Jersey
Census Ref RG10/1191/138/12 and RG11/1211/104/25

Hi Keyboard
If  I have the right people in 1871 I have living in Southampton England
George 29
Anne 39
Deleanor L 7(not sure if that is transcribed right)
George 4
John Jodd 18 (says  son in law)
Mary Jodd 14 (says daughter in law)
Edward Jodd 12 (says son in law)
something not quite right with the relationship I think.

Amelia
ps thank you. So you can't find George in 1861 either

:) No I cannot find as yet George & Charles, but Charles Tapper aged 44 occ Seaman b St Helier is married to an Elizabeth 32 b Southampton with daughters Elizabeth S? 14 and Maria aged 8 at Millbrook, South Stoneham, Hants, think Elizabeth was a Brinton as Elizabeth jnr aged 3 is with a Perry/Brinton family in 1861 as niece
1861 RG09/684/117b/58 and RG10/1199//60/13

oh wow. Thank you very much for all of those.
All to do with the family I am following.
The direct line though goes through the child that appears in the 1841 census with Charles & Jane.
Two children are there Charles aged 13 and George 3 months.
George is my direct line. I see you haven't found his baptism though.
I notice the burials are notably gathered around a couple of years. Do you know if there was an epidemic of something around then in Jersey.
Also in 1851 George and his younger sister are living as stepson and step daughter with a "Charles Vandenburgh".
Do you have a marriage for this man and I presume Jane and possibly a burial for Georges dad "Charles Tapper"
