Hi Alamo 26
Yes I have the marriage of Catherine McRae to a Robert George R Mowat on 30 July 1917 at Thurso.
and she died in 1989 aged 93, again in Thurso, or at least the marriage and death were registered in Thurso. But that is as far as I have, any further information would greatly be appreciated.
My connection is through Elizabeth/ Betty's husband who was my Great Uncle, whose eldest brother was my grandfather, born in 1876.

Where do you have Catherine and Robert as getting married? Golspie, Sutherland aye? They had 3 bairns, my grandad Robert was their eldest, then they had Donnie and Catherine (Cathy). Grandad married Helen MacLeod Keith and they had my dad Donald and my aunt Pearl, both sadly passed away now. Donnie married but never had any children while Cathy married Jimmy Kay and had 6 children, four of whom are still alive.
My great granny ran Seaforth Lodge in Thurso as a bed and breakfast, while great grandad had a garage and car showroom down at the riverside. He used to travel down til Aberdeen to buy cars which he then drove back up til Caithness to sell in his showroom!

that information was great, I have extended my tree no end and look forward to further details.
I came across a photograph of the seven McRae Girls taken about 1916, with their names and ages details on the reverse side.  If you would like a copy please let me know and I will try and send you a copy.
If you reply you will have completed the requirement to enable us to send PMs, personal messages!

I see from the last entry it is over 11 years since it was posted but I  am back on the trail of the ancestors relating to Elizabeth Mcrae, with the link through her sister Catherine who married ROBERT GEORGE REID MOWAT in 30 July 1917
His father was Donald LOUTTIT Mowat who married Elizabeth Reid on 10 Sep 1886
His father William Mowat married Margaret LOUTTIT on 13 Feb 1846 and she being the daughter of John LOUTTIT who was married to Margaret FORBES.
I am looking for more details of this marriage , when and where it took place and any further details of their other children if any one has any information
I am aware that the name LOUTTIT is usually found in this county and in Orkney Islands
