Apprenticeship indentures.
« on: Saturday 07 June 14 07:44 BST (UK) »
Good morning folks, can anyone tell me, if it's likely that my late father's indenture documents would still be in existence?, if so, how would I proceed to attempt to research them? Any info gratefully accepted.Tom.

Hi Craclyn, thank you for replying, he was apprentice painter and decorator commencing in 1934 in Liverpool, with a break in 1940, and after the war, had to complete his final year, again in Liverpool. (after 6 years army service and seeing action in Burma,it must have been odd to be still be an 'apprentice').

Hav not found any published record sets for apprenticeships that recent. Maybe worth taking a look at City & Guilds website to see if they can give you any clues as to where to look. Or contact the Liverpool Achives to see if they hold any apprenticeship papers for the period.

But Di, Tom is looking for Liverpool apprenticeships from pre and post World War 2:

... he was apprentice painter and decorator commencing in 1934 in Liverpool, with a break in 1940, and after the war, had to complete his final year, again in Liverpool.

Added:
You have a grandfather born in 1770?  ???  :o
