Anyone have any information on above. I have a Thomas Barry Born Co Kerry c 1846/1847 Father given as John Barry on his marriage Cert. On 1901 Census in Cork he is a a Stonecutter as were many of his sons & descendants. Two of Thomas Barrys children were born in Kerry-  Mary 1876 & Jane 1877. Thomas had a brother William. He seemed to travel around the country maybe with his work as he &  is in CORK IN 1901 and cant find him in 1911 even though his wife doesnt say she is a widowl
Appreciate any suggestions Thank you

If you get his marriage cert it will give you the church where married then you could look for microfilm for same which could most likely give his mothers name.

Hello again Dathai, the marriage was in Cloyne and as far as I know marriages only ever show Fathers names. Have looked on irish genealogy Kerry but cant tie in baptism of a thomas & william with a father john for the dates. The only thing is that the 2 eldest sons seemed to be named after Thomas/Margarets fathers.  The 2 eldest daughters were Elizabeth & Mary so maybe after their mothers. Will keep "digging"  :)

Marriage certificates only show fathers names the majority of Catholic Church records for marriages show mothers first name and very good percentage show mothers full maiden name.

If you were not in the house at the time of the census you were not listed on the census.

There are electrol list so you would have to get in touch with the local council.

owing to the unrest in ireland none for 1920/21

might be census for 1931
